long-term strategies to stop drug abuse
Finally, long term goals. Set them, strive for them. The recovery process is a long one and it will require long-term strategies to stop drug abuse that will help to transform yourself.
While I was in long term treatment I made a couple of goals the first was to attend 90 meetings in 90 days. I completed this goal with flying colors in fact I went on to do another 90 in 90. My next goal was a long term goal of getting a bachelors degree in Social Work. I am still working on this goal but I am getting very close to graduating.
I like to share about this at meetings because I actually
used drugs for more than 30 years before I got any substantial recovery. I like
to let the newcomers know that if a dope fiend like me can stop using lose the
desire to use and find a new way to live so can you.
The trek will be hard, but with persistence, friends, and hard-work it can be
done. Don't forget that you are not alone. Good luck, and most importantly,
don't forget, YOU CAN DO IT!
