Overcoming Dilaudid Addiction for the hardcore painkiller addict is no easy matter

Overcoming a dilaudid addiction is no easy matter especially if your doctor is the one you are getting them from. I mean what addict in their right mind is going to go the there doctor and say oh hey doc by the way I think I am addicted to dilaudid. Ha ha not going to happen in this lifetime unless this addict has had enough pain from the use of dilaudid.

.

I know when I was using drugs there was no way in the world I would have even thought of telling my physician I was using dilaudid or any other drug for that matter. It was not until many years later that I was able to do this. I now tell my doctor that a can not take any opiate drugs and if I have to go to the E R I tell them not to give me dilaudid or other opiates for pain.

If you are serious about beating your dilaudid addiction you must tell all doctors that you are an addict if you want to recover.

Painkiller addiction

Dilaudid is a derivative of morphine and in the opium class. It is also known as hydromorphone, palladone, hydal, and “drug store heroin”.

Dilaudid is a usually prescribed to prevent pain in severe cases of cancer, heart attack, injury, or pain from a surgery. The substance has eight times as much effect as morphine when it comes to relieving pain. Dilaudid is also used as a suppressant for coughs that are dry and painful, often due to bronchitis following aliments such as influenza.

Although it is not as bad as morphine, dilaudid is known to be very addictive and should only be used when prescribed by a doctor and only in the way prescribed to avoid a painkiller addiction.

Dilaudid abuse

Those who abuse dilaudid often use the drug to experience a high similar to that of codeine or heroin. When given intravenously, effects can begin to take place as soon as 15 minutes after injected and may last as long as five hours.

Dilaudid, when injected into the blood stream, gives users an intense sense of euphoria and well-being. Some users discuss being so happy and “empty-headed” that they simply sat in bed and stared at the wall. If you are to this point its time to stop using dilaudid.

side effects of dilaudid

The side effects of dilaudid can include circulatory and respiratory depressions, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, and sedation. When dilaudid is taken in large quantities, it is possible to have a circulatory system collapse or even death.

Dilaudid detox is a painful process, with withdrawal symptoms as intense as those of morphine. Thankfully, these withdrawal effects are short-lived and usually end within seventy-two hours.

If you are addicted to dilaudid, please take steps to free yourself. Being a slave to a drug substance is not a good way to live. Some dilaudid users are able to stop cold turkey; however, it is recommended that one get professional help. You can find help in the form of a rehab clinic, drug abuse hotline, or counselor.

Good luck
