72How to overcome xanax addiction and find recovery without relapsing on drugs or alcohol
Most people with a xanax addiction will tell you one reason they became addicted to xanax is because of the relaxed state or euphoric feeling it gives you after you have taken it. Xanax is used to treat anxiety issues and usually this medicine is prescribed for short term use. Although short term meaning take as needed, turns into needing it everyday. Most patients take this medicine on a daily basis, but without medical advice they up their dose whenever they want too and in my opinion this is simply abuse and if continued will lead to xanax addiction.
I can only speak for myself but I would be will to bet that a lot of people used this medication to avoid dealing with life on life’s terms anyway I know that’s exactly what I did; for example I had to have some kind of substance in me in order to come out of the house and deal with other people.
I was pretty much afraid to go to the store or things like that without having had a drink or drug. This went on for many years although I did try to stop using several times in fact I went to rehab so many times that I lost count. Xanax and alcohol made me do some crazy shit. I would end up in jail and not know why I would lose my way home and I was all the time using my wallet.
I had to have 2 or 3 Dr’s prescribing me this drug because one script would only last a few days. I even got busted writhing scripts when I was a youngster. Xanax is one of the worst drugs in the world to get hooked on. My belief why it is so addictive to some people is because of the intense euphoric effect one gets when the drug kicks in. It’s like every care in the world is lifted from you all at once and that’s pretty dam intense. I would put it right up there with heroin and several other very addicting drugs. There is hope because with help you can learn to overcome xanax addiction.
Stop drinking and using xanax

I would even go so far as to say that it very well could be the beginning of a xanax addiction. One thing that you should not do if you are using this medication is to drink alcohol with them. I used to do this and it doubles the effect. The reason I say not to do this is that it is easy to overdose on xanax by drinking booze with them because you tend to forget how many you have taken and you really don't care.
Most patients that are on Xanax suffer from severe panic attacks, and need a tranquilizer to function in everyday life. However, by the time things settle down in their life and they can come off the drug they are already have a xanax addiction.
xanax withdrawal
Like other addictive drugs, you take your medicine and then before it is time for the next dose your mind tricks you into believing that you need another dose before it is due and in time this causes an addiction. What happens is that the person will build up a tolerance to the drug and this will cause them to take more and more to get the effect that they have grown accustomed to. This is probably when the person becomes addicted for sure.
In turn instead of taking the medicine for anxiety, you start to have anxiety for not taking the medicine. Since the body builds up a tolerance to this medicine, the patient tends to take more and more to keep that relaxed feeling. If a patient that is addicted doesn't have anymore, they are more likely to buy some off the streets to get the fix to keep from going through xanax withdrawal.
Xanax on the streets are known as benzo's. They are usually sold in their generic form which is called alprazolam they are the same thing and will cause benzodiazipine addiction or in other words xanax addiction.

If you have been taking large doses for a long time you could actually die from the withdrawals. They are also equipped with helping you get your life back on track without the use of Xanax.
